Phantoms in the Brain
While buying a stack of neurology books at UCSD a while back, I saw one by V.S. Ramachandran--who I recognized as the only good professor I ever had--so I picked it up. It's called Phantoms in the Brain and I highly recommend it. It's a great empirical overview of the nature of consciousness, accessible to the layman and just generally enjoyable reading. Here is a choice quote that prompted my interrupt-driven circuitry to post this journal entry just now:
"This is a lovely example of an experiment on a person's belief system, a field of inquiry I have christened experimental epistemology just to annoy philosophers."[<< | Prev | Index | Next | >>]
