June 2, 1997
I planted a garden a couple of months ago, but
I forgot to put condoms over the flowers. While I wasn't looking,
this tomato plant had SEX with a bee! I know, I know, disgusting.
Anyway, now it's pregnant. What should I do?
If you look carefully, you can see the string beans growing
along a.... string!
Sep 16, 1997 Those little sprouts in front of me in the above photo
are Okra sprouts. I figured they'd get about knee-high (they did LAST time
I planted them). Uh huh:
Sep 26, 1997 They just keep getting bigger. I neglected to harvest
them for three days, and this is what I got. Compare to my shoe (size 8).
When they're young, they're quite tender. And then at some point they
suddenly turn to wood. It must happen fairly quickly, because I find very
few inbetween. Surprisingly, despite their size, most of the ones from
the box above were quite good. I've been tossing them in a bowl with some curry, hot
peppers (from the garden, of course), sea salt, and olive oil. Cover,
nuke for 6 minutes, let stand until you remember you were cooking something,
and enjoy. Quit yummy if you're not squeemish about slimy stuff.
