Dr. Dunning-Kruger
A gem of a snippet from a recent email from Ryan:
Teaching biostats to medical investigators and clinicians gave a fascinating insight into the Dunning-Kruger effect. This becomes a real problem when youâre trying your best to teach. Medical folks actually know extraordinarily little about the basic principles of scientific research but oh the confidence! The self-assuredness! The I-simply-canât-be-wrong aura! No doubt partly due to their training, but as a result I really donât believe 50% of anything a senior Dr says to me now (increase by 10% for each decade of experience).
