Navas Cafe
One of our favorite places before we left Ponsonby was a little Malaysian
place called Navas Cafe. It was so undiscovered, we found we had to call
ahead to let them know somebody was coming, lest they close early
for the night. Last night we were in the area and so stopped in for dinner,
and it was packed. Turns out they got a surprise stellar
review in some magazine a few weeks ago, and overnight (literally!) they went
from empty to packed every day. (Must have been an interesting staffing challenge.)
Glad to see them doing well. We'd written them up a stellar review of our
own a while back on a local restaurant ratings site, but alas, we just
don't hold the same cache'. Which is too bad, 'cause our favorite place in
St Heliers--Casa Casa (also coincidentally Malaysian)--is similarly
undiscovered. We should become restaurant reviewers. Maybe the same
reviewer will follow our trail here. :)
