Drive to Franz Josef Glacier



So, not much to say about the west coast since there's not much there in the way of towns or culture. But here's what it looks like:

Once we reached Franz Josef, we drove up to the glacier and after much deliberation hiked out to it past the many "CLOSED" signs. Kalistrya* will probably have better pics (my film was running low by now) once she catches up in her journal. But I was apparently amused by this chunk of ice from the glacier above (yeah, easily amused):

Franz Josef town itself wasn't worth mention, except that the restaurant there was the only place in New Zealand that played bad music.
