Chain of Thought
I found my thoughts in a typically strange place and reflected
for a moment on how they got there...
- Mixing some tahini in my milk, I pondered why this
jar had a toastier color than usual.
- The jar I
bought to replace this one when it runs out is a
new style of jar -- more like a mason jar.
- I wonder
if the new jar will make a decent drinking glass?
-
I guess I have plenty -- Julie recently gave me
half a dozen large drinking glasses.
- Strange to
have glasses I didn't pick myself.
- Reminds me of
wedding gifts... where people choose the gifts other
people will give them.
- I guess it makes sense, for
a young couple with no money, traditionally moving
out on their own for the first time, as a way to
kick start their new life...
- So what of modern,
two-income couples getting married...
- Friends of
mine have usually just skipped the gift part... But
what fun could be had instead?
- Imagine informing
people that signing up for the gift registry is
required in order to attend... and then having a
registry full of things like
- Perform one song or musical piece at the wedding.
- Arrive at the wedding by parachute.
- Wear a really scary clown suit, carry a HUGE mallet, and
innocently stalk any small children at the wedding.
- Bring a large basket of colored paper wadded
into balls and leave them about randomly throughout
the wedding.
- Bring a large empty basket, and
collect wadded color paper balls as you find them.
- (etc...)
