Writing Stylez

Comparing my own writing style (e.g., After Life) to a similarly themed book by a published author:

Simon Funk: I might say something like "He was awakened by a blinding ray of sunlight that targetted his eye through the lone hole in the curtains." He would say something like "The tuft of hair fallen over his brow glistened like crystals in the morning sun. He woke to the brightness, and squinted carefully at the source--a lone hole in the curtains, somehow placed perfectly between him and the sun. Dust that was invisible everywhere else swirled with abandon down this ray, like a snowstorm cork screw aimed at his head."
